Peterside commiserates with the Awolowo family, describes HID as a great woman of substance

Peterside commiserates with the Awolowo family, describes HID as a great woman of substance

Dr. Dakuku Peterside, governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Rivers State in the April election has commiserated with the Awolowo family on the exit of their Matriarch, Madam Hannah Idowu Dideolu Awolowo.

Peterside who described Awolowo as a great woman of substance said Nigeria will miss her interventions and wise counsel.

A press statement signed by Sylvester Asoya Special Assistant on Media to Dr.Dakuku Peterside and made available to NF-Reports noted that,  “Among the wives of First Republic politicians, HID was without any doubt, one of the most visible and outstanding women of that glorious era. The sage himself captured her real essence when he fondly described her as “My Jewel of Inestimable value.”

According Hon. Dakuku, that apt description, over the years, gave a hint on her real meaning, not just to the Awolowo family, friends and admirers, but to the entire nation.

“A great Iroko has indeed fallen but like every mortal, she must travel this path. She will be remembered for her resourcefulness and carriage, and for being the pillar behind the great Awo.

“Without HID, it is very doubtful if Chief Obafemi Awolowo would have become that enigmatic and successful politician who bestrode our nation’s political space for many decades.

“HID, like Chief Awolowo, will never die. Surely, she will live forever, particularly in the minds of those who benefitted from her husband’s vision in human capital development.

“She will be greatly missed. And for the living, particularly those in public office, we must all draw from her example of service, consistency and commitment to great ideals. May her soul rest in peace”

Amaechi is clean, Rivers APC insists

Amaechi is clean, Rivers APC insists

Urges President Buhari to ignore Wike’s multi-billion Naira propaganda war against ex-Governor

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has declared the immediate past governor of the State, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi, clean and untainted by corruption, urging President Muhammadu Buhari to disregard desperate efforts by Chief Nyesom Wike to tarnish Amaechi’s image.
Rivers APC in a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Monday and signed by its State Chairman, Dr. Davis Ibiamu Ikanya said, “We make bold to say that if there is any clean and spotless former governor in Nigeria, that person is Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, CON. Anybody who knows Amaechi well enough would readily testify that he is an honest, sincere but courageous gentleman, a first-class patriot who is ever ready to go the extra mile to see that Nigeria becomes a better place for the present and future generations.”

The party strongly condemned Chief Wike’s desperation to drag Amaechi’s name in the mud, the latest phase of which centres around a sponsored documentary on Amaechi being aired on Africa Independent Television (AIT). “This satanic documentary is only part of Wike’s propaganda war against Amaechi for which the Care-Taker Governor of Rivers State has earmarked billions of naira in his wicked plot to destroy and decimate the person and character of Amaechi. Other propaganda tools planned to be deployed in the war against Amaechi include sponsored publications such as advertorials, columns, editorials and OpEd articles in major international, national and local print media; sponsored personality discussion programmes in the electronic media and sponsored special documentaries for television and radio through independent groups and organisations,” Rivers APC said.

The party added: “This insidious plot by Wike include commissioning a team made up of persons within and outside the state to ‘initiate, formulate and contrive false damaging reports bordering on alleged corrupt practices of Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi and circulate same to individuals and institutions within Nigeria and abroad with a view to damaging the incorruptible character and rising profile of Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi in order to blackmail and put pressure on President Buhari not to appoint the former governor into his government. These cooked reports will be sent to the US Embassy, UK High Commission, EU Commission, and several international organisations such as Transparency International, amongst others. The forged reports will also be sent to local and foreign media houses such as the BBC [Hausa Service], Dutch Radio, VOA [Hausa Service], amongst others’ for repeated publication and airing.”

Rivers APC dismissed the allegations against Amaechi as a replication of the documentary terrorism Wike and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) deployed against President Muhammadu Buhari during the campaigns for the 2015 general elections.
“It is not surprising that the medium for airing the documentary is the same AIT that angered decent Nigerians with documentaries that disparaged the present President of Nigeria and his family members in a failed bid to make Nigerians not to vote for him. The anti-Amaechi documentary is simply aimed at driving a wedge between the President and the former governor in the hope that President Buhari would be blackmailed into leaving Amaechi out of his government,” Rivers APC said.

It expressed confidence that “just as the blackmail against General Buhari was ignored by Nigerians, who massively voted for him, so, too, the President, having himself been a victim of PDP and AIT’s documentary terrorism, will also discountenance the dirt PDP and AIT are trying so hard to pour on Amaechi and accord him his right of place in the new Nigeria he staked everything, including his life, to achieve.”

“We are happy that Amaechi has through both the immediate past Secretary to the Rivers State Government, George Feyi, and the Commissioner for Finance, Dr. Chamberlain Peterside, and others denied any form of corruption against him by Wike and his cohorts,” Rivers APC said. It reminded President Buhari of his statement during his visit to Rivers State on November 5, 2013, when he described Amaechi as a hero and a great leader. It recalled Buhari as saying: “PDP decided to target some governors that are progressives and we feel will make a difference. We seek your support through Amaechi. I lived in Port Harcourt during my military career. I was a staff officer to Gen Danjuma in 1973. Rivers State has produced great men such as professor Tam David West. 2015 will be another watershed in Nigeria. Amaechi is a great leader. We decided to come together to save Nigeria from misgovernance. We must come together and make Nigeria move forward.

“Amaechi has given Rivers people responsible leadership. The schools he has built will give Rivers children a better tomorrow while women and children stand to benefit from the standard health centers he has built. He has also carried out physical rehabilitation of infrastructures in the state. People like Amaechi should join the APC to move Nigeria forward.”

Rivers APC noted that it is the same Amaechi that solidly stood by Buhari and successfully piloted his campaign that is being disparaged on daily basis by Wike, who is seeking to punish Amaechi for his role in scuttling the re-election bid of Wike’s boss, former President Goodluck Jonathan. “It is our conviction, therefore, that denying Amaechi appointment based on the wicked propaganda by Wike and his cohorts is like believing all the falsehoods against Buhari during the campaigns,” the party said.

Asaba, Delta State: Ebireri refutes bribery allegation against Delta Speaker

Asaba, Delta State:  Ebireri refutes bribery allegation against Delta Speaker
…..Says it is baseless and wicked

By Njamanze Fidel

Mr. Henry Ebireri, the Chief Press Secretary to the Delta State House of Assembly Speaker (Hon. Igbuya), on Thursday rebutted allegation that 23 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members in the Delta State House of Assembly contributed a sum of N5million each with which to compromise the panel of judges and receive a favorable judgment against opposition petitioners, describing it as wicked, baseless and reckless.

In a statement issued in Asaba, and sent to The Press, Ebireri described the allegation that the speaker approached Labour Party lawmaker to bring N5million to settle the panel of judges at the House of Assembly tribunal to get justice as political fabrication aimed at undermining the speaker’s integrity.

“The Delta State House of Assembly Speaker is an honest and highly effective speaker. He has built a reputation anchored on integrity over the years.
Stressing that the speaker will not mortgage the country’s democracy, the CPS accused some members of the opposition of putting personal interest above those of the people and the state.

Ebireri who also called the allegations nonsense, appealed to office and money seeking politicians to temper ambition and greed with concern for public good and genuine welfare of the people.

He also appealed to journalists and politicians to protect Igbuya from undue harassment by self-seeking elements whose stock in trade is to hide under the banner of the media to bring down their imaginary or perceived opponents.

Again, Wike set to borrow N10b from Zenith Bank to bribe judges – APC Alleges

.

Again, Wike set to borrow N10b from Zenith Bank to bribe judges – APC Alleges

Following a spate of recent negative outcomes for the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the various Election Petition Tribunals sitting in Abuja, the Rivers State Chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has alleged that the Governor has commenced negotiations to borrow a whopping N10 billion from Zenith Bank PLC for the sole purpose of bribing judges of the Tribunals, Appeal Courts amongst others.

In a press statement signed by Chris Finebone and made available to NF-Reports explained that to date, the Governor has collected a total of about N100 billion comprising  Federal allocations, Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), balance in the Reserve Fund and other sundry sums left in the State’s various accounts with the banks by 29th May.

The statement reads: “The aforementioned sum is exclusive of the earlier N30 billion obtained from banks by the governor since he assumed office. In sum total, about N130 billion has passed through the hands of the governor in 3 months with only a few projects of his predecessor he is completing and some cosmetic asphalting and pothole filling of some streets to show for it. If he borrows additional N10 billion from Zenith Bank as he has already decided to do, Rivers people and our next generation shall have been enslaved further to the tune of N40 billion as loan before the tribunal shows the governor the way out of Government House, Port Harcourt.

“Indeed, the APC is saddened at the carte blanche Nyesom Wike has handed to himself to recklessly borrow in the name of the people without consideration for the present and future generations of Rivers people.

“With the Governor as Commissioner for Works, Due Process Office and Site Engineer all rolled into one, the world can better imagine the big scam going on in Rivers State by a master underhand deal-maker as Governor.

“But most worrisome to the APC is the fact that information available to us indicates that the Governor made up his mind to borrow the N10 billion from Zenith Bank which he will keep exclusively to bribe judges every step of the way especially now that news coming to the Governor from the tribunals sitting in Abuja is not that cheery to his ears.

“We recall that his earlier attempt to approach the Chief Justice of Nigeria [CJN] with a view to compromising the latter ended in fiasco as the APC exposed his antics before he could get close to the revered CJN.

“After that unpalatable incident, we believed [though wrongly] that his disastrous experience with the CJN would have taught him a lesson but from what we now know, Nyesom Wike has learnt nothing from the CJN debacle as he has since devised other means of compromising some of the men of the hallowed realm. Our happiness is that some of the judges place premium on their reputation and name and care little about the filthy lucre the Governor dangles at them.

“The APC will not forget that Nyesom Wike prides in his ability to compromise any living being as long as the person has a price. He boasts of his escapades with men of the judiciary; cavorts with court registrars, clerks and even bailiffs. We are sure he believes that he is the best at his game the way late Pablo Escobar saw himself in exaggerated terms in Colombia as a drug warlord. But there is always one mountain too high to climb for mortal man.

“Therefore, the APC would like to appeal to well-meaning Rivers elders and leaders-of-thought to prevail on Gov. Nyesom Wike against incessant and needless high-interest borrowing he has embarked on for his selfish desires as this has catastrophic outcome for the future of our people and generations yet unborn”.
