Tesla Magnetic Resonance Imaging: Eze Applauds Prof. Ugboma, UPTH Management Team

Tesla Magnetic Resonance Imaging: Eze Applauds Prof. Ugboma, UPTH Management Team

The University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH) has continued to break new grounds under the sterling leadership of the Chief Medical Director (CMD), Prof. Henry Ugboma, with the arrival of yet another model facility for the quality health and safety of Rivers People.

Reacting to the feat, chieftain of the All Progressives Congress and erstwhile National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New People's Democratic Party, nPDP, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze said Prof. Ugboma has shown appreciable interest in the wellness of citizens and inhabitants of Rivers State and other South/South states, stressing that his commitment to sound health policy implementation is turning the UPTH into a healthy tourism site.

Recall that on Thursday, 24 September, 2020, the Management of the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital purchased a state of art 1.5 Tesla Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machine.

In a statement made available to media houses, the party Chief explained that Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a medical imaging technique used in radiology to form pictures of the anatomy and the physiological processes of the body. MRI scanners use strong magnetic fields, magnetic field gradients, and radio waves to generate images of the organs in the body.

Reeling out the benefits of the machine, Eze said the test from the MRI utilizes incredible magnets, radio waves, and a PC to make definite pictures inside the human body. He said primary care physicians can utilize this test to analyze the human body system and perceive how well a patient had reacted to treatment.

Describing Ugboma as a composite professional in his field, Eze congratulated the management team of UPTH for always putting humanity first in their policy formulation and implementation processes, stressing that posterity will be fair to them for their immense contributions to public health safety.

Appealing for more support from governments, individuals and groups to trigger more achievements,  Eze called on members of the public to utilize the newly acquired facility, adding that the MRI will assist the hospital to improve on its health care service delivery to the people.

Rivers APC Crisis: Hold Abe, co-travellers responsible for party’s state

… Amaechi's efforts to re-fix party has been frustrated by Abe and co

..Says neither Amaechi nor himself is to be blamed for the crisis

Having stumbled on a litany of articles, press statements and commentaries not worth any response, either sponsored by Senator Magnus Abe or authored by members of his  misguided band of untamed publicists, accusing the Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi and a party stalwart, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze as responsible for the crisis that has overwhelmed the Rivers State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), one cannot help but put the records straight for public knowledge and posterity sake.

It is in the public domain that Senator Abe has severally accused Chief Eze of being a hireling, contracted by the Minister to cause discombobulation in the party and leave it in perpetual disarray and as a result he incites his band of idiotic intransigents and some group of hired youth to continue to malign, threaten and abuse the party chief on daily basis.

In one of his various interviews, Sen. Abe inciting the youths against Chief Eze stated thus... "political mercenaries, and conflict entrepreneurs like Chief Eze, who has no ward or polling unit in Rivers State has continually misled the Minister of Transportation into the false belief that he was a Superman and every contrary voice in the party must be crushed".

Furthermore, in Abe's futile attempt to continue to disparage the personality of Chief Eze and that of the Minister, Abe's strong ally who also serves as one of his Media Aides, Sampson Oburu in a post recently highlighted that, " Chief Eze, You are the problem in APC, you and your principal Amaechi. You and your Principal's anti party is the bane of APC in Edo and Rivers State".

Reacting to the frivolous stuff and nonsense peddled around by Sen. Abe and his agents, Chief Eze, an erstwhile National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New People's Democratic Party (nPDP) and chief of the APC,   posited thus "the fact remains that one very awkward and embarrassing task any individual can venture into is to take up the responsibility of speaking for a serial wrongdoer and political desperado who survives in pulling others down by distorting facts to suit his style of cocktail. The frustrations and emotional backache coupled with the overwhelming sense of guilt and psychological trauma attached with such responsibility is in fact, suicidal".

Describing the allegations as lacking in basis, satanic, unsubstantiated and emanating from the pit of hell, Chief Eze said Abe and his paid purveyors of falsehood singly intend to distort facts and divert attention from their commercial scheme of keeping the party in perpetual crisis in compliance with the terms of their agreement with Gov. Wike and the People's Democratic Party.

He said he has remained under attack on hourly basis by those who do not mean well for the party, especially persons working with Sen. Abe. One of such nauseating texts from a friend of Abe who exhumed the worst adjectival phrase from his grammatical archives to describe Chief Eze reads;

"May thunder visit Eze Chukwuemeka Eze and his family, including his generation, an ABIA STATE MAN, paid heavily by RT HON CHIBUIKE ROTIMI AMAECHI to cause problem ROCKING or BEDEVILING RIVERS STATE APC, God will surely punish the Biafraud peg, that called himself Chief Eze chukwuemeka Eze. The idiot called Eze Chukwuemeka Eze is a big disgrace to the Igbos.

Biafraud peg he is." - AMB PRINCE IHUNWO

Eze said it is utterly disconcerting for Sen. Abe and his friends to allege that the Transportation Minister bankrolls his media publications and sundry actions, stressing that as an adult, he is old enough to take responsibility for his actions and inactions.

"Let me categorically state that it is an insult on my person and personality at my age and position in public to allege that the Minster and Leader of the party in the South South, Rt. Hon. Dr. Amaechi is behind my write ups and actions".

He said holding such opinion is simply idiotic because according to him, Sen. Abe severally made attempts in the past to buy him over, unknown to him, a man's integrity is worth more than silver and gold.

"If Abe and his group can be so timid to hold this type of sinister thought and opinion about the Minster, Abe should have tried to tell the world that he once plotted to buy me over to his group even before I formally joined Amaechi's political Team", he stated.

Furthermore, the party Chief said "The fact and records were sufficiently reflected in most of my articles in defence of Abe especially, when he (Abe) was arrested by the EFCC in 2008 and more importantly, when Wike plotted to scuttle his Senatorial ambition in 2015".

Chief Eze said if exposing the wicked schemes to frustrate peace in Rivers State Chapter of the APC is his only sin, so be it.

Stressing that he is old enough to bear the consequences of his engagements, Eze cautioned Abe and company to desist from shifting blames to Rt. Hon. Amaechi whom he described as unblemished.

The party stalwart said he had made appreciable attempts in various publications to expose how Sen. Abe engineered the crisis in the APC which dates back to 2014, when he could not access the gubernatorial ticket of the party.

He said Abe thereafter swore to tear the party apart and leave it in shambles in perpetuity. No wonder all reasonable efforts to restore peace to the party have been exercises in futility.

"Similarly, I have in a well articulated petition to the National Reconciliation Committee set up by the party under the Chairmanship of His Excellency, Chief Bisi Akande, outlined all the sins Abe and his group have visited the chapter with. Apart from this, I have done series of articles and write-ups on how Abe denied the party victory during the 2015 general elections and improved on his well celebrated and historical evil plot to deny the party from contesting any political position during the 2019 general elections, all to ensure that Amaechi has no political platform to work upon".

It is unthinkable that after informing the world that he is Chibuike Amaechi’s highest political investment, Sen. Abe will turn around to be so mean and wicked to a man without whom his political career would have ended at the Rivers State House of Assembly.

It is on record how Abe and his group have frustrated and ensured that all the efforts by the National Body of APC to organise a peaceful Congresses are frustrated. For reasons only known to him, he refused to go back to the Senate with hope of taking up the position of the Deputy Senate President which was zoned to the South-South   just to ensure that the PDP continues to hold sway in the State. What type of party man will be so mean to his party if he is not a tool in the hands of those who feel threatened by the rising political profile of Chibuike Amaechi.

Today, in the eyes of the public, APC in Rivers State is in the cooler just because a man vowed that unless the gubernatorial ticket is handed to him there will be no APC in the state and sadly, instead of sanctioning such character, he is motivated and encouraged with a Board appointment with the NNPC for being so wicked and inhumane. It is indeed unbelievable and unfortunate.

He further stated that more shocking is the fact that some APC members who are well versed to these facts are on daily basis blaming the Minster and leader for their woes instead of holding responsible the man who has kept us all in this mess.

The caring party chieftain sympathises with party members over the ravaging hunger but reiterated that the fate of Oshiomhole awaits all those who contributed one way or the other to the present state of APC in Rivers State.

Eze recalled thus. "Amaechi saw all this coming our way and assembled both Senator Abe's group and Dakuku's group in the Rivers State Government House before the 2015 general elections and pleaded with all to work together to win the elections and that if not, it will be very difficult to sustain all members of the political family as his going to Abuja cannot sustain everybody.  Instead of adhering to this wise counsel, Abe and his group resorted to play the spoilers script which eventually cost us the elections.”

Eze maintained that although Amaechi is doing his best but he is an individual and still needs the party’s prayers and support to secure the party from the hands of those who have vowed never to be alive to see the APC thrive.

Eze commended the two federal Lawmakers from Rivers State who recently joined the Rivers APC; Hon. Ephraim Nwuzi - Etche/Omuma Federal Constituency and Hon. Chisom Dike, representing Eleme/Tai/Oyigbo Federal Constituency as well as Gov. Wike's former Commissioner, John Bahzia.

Describing them as brave, the party chief expressed confidence that their entrance into the APC will contribute meaningfully to the ongoing efforts at stabilizing the party.

Ends

UNITY ROAD: THE PEOPLE AS VICTIMS ON THE GOVERNOR’S CHESSBOARD WITH HIS ALLY (Part One)

 By Senibo Chris Finebone

If you genuinely want to know a little bit more about the Ogoni-Andoni-Opobo Unity Road, you might have to calm down and read this.

Former governor Peter Odili it was who awarded the contract for this unique project and work commenced under his administration though slow. When Amaechi came to power, greater funding and attention was given to the project.

Following the passionate appeal by Opobo people through their respected monarch, King Dandeson Jaja, for a spur to be introduced into the original plan of landing the road at Opobo after going through the lengthy Andoni axis, a spur was created linking Nkoro and Opobo at a substantial additional cost to the entire project. That spur alone (Nkoro to Opobo) had five (5) bridges which jacked up the overall cost of the project.

By the time Amaechi’s tenure came to an end on May 29, 2015 four (4) out of the five (5) bridges on the Nkoro-Opobo spur had been completed and the road taken beyond Kalaibiama, Opobo. Government being a continuum, no one was surprised that the new government of governor Nyesom Wike committed to completing the project as its importance to the good people of the area cannot be overemphasized.

However, the sudden cancellation of the original contract for the project with Rivigo Ltd and immediate re-award to Raffoul Ltd reportedly chaired by a PDP stalwart was adjudged by many cursory observers as curious. But even more curious was the upward review of the contract sum and immediate release of N2bn to the new contractor. It was widely rumoured that the entire episode was a scheme between the governor and his party close ally whom he used the money to get him elected into his current national position in their party.

With no attempt to date to disown what is now public knowledge of the collaboration between the governor and his man Friday, discerning minds knew immediately that that job will suffer for two reasons. Firstly, the project will suffer experience deficit considering the extremely challenging terrain of the area typical of most saline riverine environment. Secondly, any disagreement between the governor and his man through whom billions of naira are being funnelled out in the name of the project for other unrelated purposes, the ultimate victims will be the good people of the area.

In any case, as work paced at snail speed, our fears started manifesting. Soon, work was reduced to ‘shovel and head pan’ status at the Opobo axis. Our Nkoro brethren were lucky to have had their portion of the road fully completed by the Amaechi administration. It became obvious that Opobo people were in for ‘a long thing.’ This fear heightened when the new contractor, on instruction from the government, did a remedial work on the old track road linking Opobo Town for what many thought would be for a temporary use. But I personally concluded that the Opobo end of the project was up for some form of abandonment. You be the judge!

It is worthy of note to state that between May 29, 2020 Gov. Wike took over as governor and promised to complete the road, to date (6 years after), his contractor is still struggling with the only bridge into Opobo that he inherited. Four out of the five bridges on the Nkoro-Opobo spur were built and delivered by the Amaechi administration. Gov. Wike’s contractor, Raffoul Ltd. Is still growing grey hairs on how to deliver that single inherited bridge.

In November, 2019 the monarch of Opobo Kingdom led his chiefs to serve a subtle  reminder to the governor about the need to change gear on the slow pace (if not full work stoppage) observed on the project. Responding, the governor promised to complete the Opobo end of the project and commission it to mark his first one year in office in his second term as governor on May 29, 2020. Many of his party faithful swore it will be done. But some of us who understand the underlying dynamics of things concerning this project were sceptical. We were right.

Nothing has happened except a few workers lounging around the road fiddling with a drainage not fit for even the smallest street in a Port Harcourt suburb. There is no question that the contraption being installed as drainage can never contain 10 minutes of torrential rainfall in an area known to experience very heavy rainfall per annum. With that gutter you need not be an engineer to know that the road will easily wash away just in one season of rainfall except it is not asphalt.

Yesterday, the governor embarked on an inspection of the entire Unity Road after which he declared that his government has made over 80% payment of the total contract sum to the contractor.

Gov. Wike said, “We have paid over 80 percent of the contract sum and we expect that at least the Opobo axis of the road ought to have been completed.

“I am not also happy with the level of work at the Andoni axis of the road which links Ngo and Ikuru Towns.

“On our part, we are committed to complete the long abandoned project to enable the people of Opobo and Andoni travel to their homes by road.

“Let me appeal to the contractor to expedite work on the road .I can assure you that funding will not be a hindrance to the completion of the project.

“We cannot run away from our responsibility. We must make sure that the people of Opobo and Andoni drive home by road.

“There is quite a lot to be done because of the terrain, but that should not be an excuse on the side of the contractor.

“The contractor has assured us that by December this year, the Opobo axis of the road will be completed while the Andoni axis which will link Ngo and Ikuru Towns will be completed in March next year.

“I will not accept any further excuses. That is why the contractor must expedite work and mobilize more resources to ensure that the project is delivered.

“Government is willing to pay the outstanding amount so that the people can drive to their homes,” he stated.

Beyond the above statements made to deceive the gullible public through the media, discerning minds know he wouldn’t tell us the whole story between him and the contractor. Na dem dem! Our only concern is that the road project should be completed to alleviate the suffering of our people. We should not be made innocent victims on the chessboard of a governor and his political and business partner (simply put).

RIWAMA: Fake Issuer Of Waste Evacuation Facility Usage Permit Arrested

After months of sustained tracking of a syndicate feigning and operating as staff of the Rivers State Waste Management Agency (RIWAMA), issuing fake licences to unsuspecting members of the public for construction of waste evacuation facility usage permit, the efforts have paid off.

Consequently, one Princewill Enwusoyele was today, Tuesday, September 1, 2020 apprehended at Eneka, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The culprit (Princewill Enwusoyele) was nabbed with a copy of fake evacuation facility usage permit being issued to one Mr. Indongest at the cost of three hundred thousand (N300, 000) naira.

He is presently undergoing further investigation at RIWAMA Police Station.

This has further exonerated the management of RIWAMA who has consistently notified the public to beware of fruadsters who do not only defraud them in the guise of RIWAMA officers but also seem to be on a mission to drag the name of the Agency to the mud.

The Sole Administrator of RIWAMA, Bro. Felix Obuah has therefore reiterated his resolve to deal decisively with anyone caught or involved in this unholy mission of rubbishing the unequaled efforts of His Excellency, Chief Barr. Nyesom Wike to ensure that all nooks and crannies of the state are kept clean for the healthy living of the inhabitants and to restore the Garden City status of Port Harcourt, the state capital.

Bro. Obuah said the case of Princewill Enwusoyele will serve as a deterrent to others who may be acting in league with him to give RIWAMA a bad name.

He commended the efforts of the RIWAMA staff who tactically apprehended the culprit and warned members of the public to be cautious and to call the attention of RIWAMA to any suspicious moves to defraud them in the name of waste evacuation facility usage permit, or any other request or demand under any guise.

Akpabio and NDDC Scholarship: When Prudence meets Probity

… As NDDC clears backlog of Scholarship payment

It is a known fact that it takes a lot of courage to say no to intense pressure from different quarters, to make a wrong decision, just to assuage the public, in the face of a coordinated outcry.

The story of the overseas protest of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) scholars, had dominated the news, in the month of July, 2020, during the now infamous public hearing on NDDC, in the National Assembly.

The Prof. Pondei-led management of the NDDC as well the Minister for Niger Delta Affairs, Sen. Godswill Akpabio had explained that the sudden upward surge in the total cost the scholarship was worrisome and no payment will be made, under his watch, without scrutiny of the list, to ascertain the authenticity of the names therein.

This decision was taken after the NDDC has gone to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), intent on making a payment of $5m (Five million Dollars) to clear the backlog of the scholarship, only to realize that the bill had risen to $7m (Seven Million Dollars)! Stunned by that bill, the NDDC management notified the Minister, who promptly ordered a stay of action, pending the thorough vetting of the list.

The good news is that, today, a total of $5.9m has been paid for a batch of 197 scholars, with 12 PHDs, while payment for about 94 scholars is being processed.

It may take a while, but Niger Deltans, nay; Nigerians will come to appreciate what it means when prudence meets probity, in the management of public funds, as exemplified by Sen. Godswill Akpabio, the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs and his handling of the NDDC imbroglio so far.
