Rivers PDM Still Intact, APC lies Again - PDM

Rivers PDM Still Intact, APC lies Again - PDM

It has been brought to our attention that a report mentioning PDM and credited to the "APC" in Rivers state was issued earlier. The mentioned release is not just untrue but also a disgrace to our growing democracy. It is surprising that while other parties are registering members, consulting the people and consolidating on modalities to better their lot, the APC in Rivers State has towed the path of falsehood. Lying should never be so easy. The PDM is still intact in Rivers State and always will be.

No registered member of the PDM has defected to the APC. If they have, they should produce their PDM membership registration numbers. This is analog politics played by people who live in the same world they claim they seek to change. We call on the leadership of APC to demonstrate they stand by the truth and call their spokes person, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze to order, and abstain from telling lies or spreading untrue stories in an attempt to gain popularity. The APC rather should focus on their party and state affairs and leave we the Rivers State PDM out of it.

If they can lie about the trivial, can we trust them on anything? Where does a registered party, recognized by INEC get merged into another at state level? They must think Rivers people and Nigerians are fools. We would like to use this opportunity to call on all well meaning Nigerians who believe in the need for change to use the manual registration exercise to join the only party that truly offers change. With millions of online members already registered at www.pdm.ng, there is clearly something we are doing right. If APC would stop spending so much time abusing and deceiving Nigerians, maybe they too would learn something.

Contrary to the untruths coughed up by Eze, it is no secret that the PDM leadership has been visited on several occasions by the original and verifiable APC leadership before the pending move by Amaechi to hijack their party. They knew what was coming and were seeking refuge from the dictators disguised as democrats and saviours of the people. Their worst fears have now been realized. Discussions have reached an advanced stage and when the move does happen, it won't be imagined in press releases or radio broadcasts but seen in verifiable clarity on your TV screens. We have to much respect for Rivers people to be part of their continued deception.

Tonye Princewill though not a member of PDM is a Prince and a gentleman and remains closer to us than he ever will be to APC. Even though he remains a member of PDP, he understands the principle of politics without bitterness and giving love to all - even those who hurt him. We hope that one day our paths will cross but till then we will focus on serving Rivers people and working from the grassroots up.

Ministerial Nominations: A Sign of Better Days Ahead - Princewill

Ministerial Nominations: A Sign of Better Days Ahead - Princewill

PDP stalwart in Rivers State, Prince Tonye Princewill has expressed his confidence in the just released ministerial nominees list. In a press statement released by his Personal Assistant- Media and Publicity, Wabiye Idoniboye-obu, Prince Tonye encouraged the National assembly to screen and approve the well-deserved candidates.

For Princewill, “the bedrock of good governance is having a good team behind you; this has been a challenge for previous administrations in our country. In leadership, the systematic balance between human capacity and politics is usually the formula for creating a formidable workforce. In the opening sitting of the Senate, the senate president, David Mark, presented a list of ministerial nominees submitted by Mr. President. On this list are intelligent men and women who have the wherewithal to deliver on targets in the prelude to an election year.

Princewill who congratulated President Jonathan for, what he called, “a move in the right direction”, enthused, “in one strike, the president has proved he can balance governance and politics”.

The Prince of the Kalabari kingdom encouraged the nominees to put in their best, and push for excellence. “I am really impressed with the quality of the list and I am confident that they will perform” Princewill said.

The list has the likes of General Aliyu Gusau Mohamed (rtd) from Zamfara State, who retired as a Lieutenant General. As an intelligence expert, Gen Gusau held all the exalted security positions in the land, from Chief of Army Staff to National Security Adviser. This has stamped his legacy in the defense unit of our country. Also on the list is Senator Musiliu Obanikoro from Lagos State, who as senator proposed motions that affected the lives of many Nigerians. From bills that checkmated the overflow of the Atlantic Ocean in Lagos and the condition of the Abuja Stadium to resolving the clash between men of the Nigerian Police Force and Nigerian Army in the west; Obanikoro has made his mark. Dr T. W. Danagogo from Rivers State has served the people in various capacities. From Local Government Chairman to Commissioner of a complicated ministry, Dr Danagogo has delivered on all counts especially in how he handled his final days in office with Amaechi.

“The Kalabari Kingdom needed a boost after Soku and the loss of Ajumogobia. I suspect this is the first step to resolving Soku. An issue which our people take very seriously”, the Prince highlighted.

Prince Tonye Princewill cheerd existing ministers to keep up the good work and aid the President move the country forward. He also urged them to welcome the new ministers with open arms and together form a team of winners. “I am particularly impressed with the women in Mr. President’s cabinet. The Petroleum and Finance ministers both deserve a pat on the back”. “2014 will be an interesting year, but the synergy between the incoming and existing ministers should be top of the agenda. The President’s return in 2015 is hinged on their performance and they cannot afford to fail”, Princewill said.

APC, NEW PDP Merger a Done Deal, MOU Signed *Defecting lawmakers' seats safe

                                                   PRESS RELEASE

APC, NEW PDP Merger a Done Deal, MOU Signed *Defecting lawmakers' seats safe

It has been brought to my notice that a statement denying the merger between the New Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been credited to me and my office. I was quoted as saying that the MOU between the two parties is yet to be signed and because of this the merger is yet to be effected.

I wish to state that no such statement was at any time issued by me or my office. Instead, I wish to reiterate that the MOU between us and APC has been duly signed by both the nPDP National Chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje, and the National Chairman of APC, Chief Bisi Akande.

In this regard, the general public should disregard any statement from whatever source which tries to give the impression that the merger between us and APC is in danger. The truth in that the merger is waxing stronger by the day and that our resolve to save our fledgling democracy is unshakable.

As we stated in our press statement of yesterday, President Goodluck Jonathan and the PDP leadership should come to terms with the fact that PDP is now an opposition political party and Jonathan should start writing his handover notes as APC is fully set to take over the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in 2015 so as to give Nigerians the dividends of democracy they have been yearning for.

Meanwhile, we have read reports that members of the National Assembly that follow us to APC will lose their seats. This cannot happen as it will be at variance with the relevant sections of our Constitution and Electoral Laws that guarantee members of the National Assembly safety once their parent party is in crisis as PDP is at the moment.

For the avoidance of doubt, there is no danger of their losing their seats as made clear by sections 68(1)(g) and 109(1)(g) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended) in relation to the status of members of a legislative house (state and national) who defect from the political parties from which they were elected to join another political party.

The wordings of the aforesaid sections are in agreement with those of sections 64(1)(g) of the 1979 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria given judicial interpretation by the Supreme Court in the case of FEDECO Vs Goni (1983) FNR 203. This case was argued by the best legal minds of that era (Chief FRA Williams SAN and GOK Ajayi SAN). The court held that such a member keeps his seat if his defection is as a result of a division or split in his party.

In this regard particularly now that we have the majority in the National Assembly our members in the National Assembly should express no fear as they are well protected and covered by the Constitution of the Federal Republic seeing that Alh Bamanga Tukur and his cohorts have succeeded to split the PDP into old and new PDP and are free to join any party of their choice

Long live NPDP!

Long live Nigeria!!!

New PDP Felicitates With Gov. Babangida Aliyu @ 58

The New Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP) has felicitated with Niger State Governor, His Excellency Dr. Babangida Aliyu, on the occasion of his 58th birthday on November 12, 2013, describing him as a good example of the kind of leader Nigeria needs at this period.

The party in a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, nPDP said that Nigeria would be a better placed if those in leadership positions in the country could emulate Governor Aliyu.

“It is not for nothing that Dr. Babangida Aliyu chose to be addressed as The Chief Servant rather than as His Excellency, The Executive Governor. Dr. Aliyu is humility and modesty personified. Despite his great learning and intimidating track record as a civil servant, administrator and political juggernaut, Dr. Aliyu remains humble to a fault,” Chief Eze said in a statement signed on behalf of nPDP National Chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje.

He further described Governor Aliyu as a bold and courageous democrat who hates injustice in any form and is committed towards entrenching true democracy in the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as well as to the survival and growth of democracy in Nigeria.

“This explains why The Chief Servant has distinguished himself as the pillar of our just struggle to reclaim our great party, the PDP, from the hands of political soldiers of fortune who now hold it hostage, so as to pave the way for the realisation of the vision of the founding fathers of the party. Dr. Aliyu is indeed, a rare patriot, a detribalised and selfless leader, a first-class statesman,” the statement added.

New PDP wished Governor Aliyu a happy birthday while praying for Almighty God to grant him many more years of life and good health to enable him continue his good work.

Peterside hails Amaechi, deplores drought of men of courage and character

Hon. Dakuku Peterside has described Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi who recently bagged an award by Business Day for States’ Competitiveness and Good Governance as a man of uncommon courage and character.

Peterside who attended the colourful award ceremony which held in Lagos commended Business Day for selecting Amaechi and for showing rare bravery in their choice especially in this season when any act of courage is easily misunderstood.

According to Peterside, “we are not surprised that he was selected for this award. For a man who has dedicated his entire life to the service of his people, this award is not only fitting but encouraging. We are therefore happy that his achievements resonate beyond our state”.

Continuing, Peterside added: “Governor Amaechi will continue to disappoint his detractors because of the strength of his character, courage and focus. And for his teeming admirers, we are optimistic and confident that he will end well because he is already leaving lasting legacies in Rivers State. Award by Business Day for States’ Competitiveness and Good Governance is part of that celebration that is already echoing beyond Rivers State.
It will be recalled that Business Day gave out the award in 13 categories and Rivers State won in a number of categories. Governor Chibuike Amaechi of Rivers State carted away the Best Governor in Education Development award.

The lawmaker therefore prayed God to grant Nigeria more individuals in the mould of Amaechi. “Nigeria needs more Rotimi Amaechis to speak truth and courage whenever the need arises. That is the only way to build our nation and escape God’s judgement”.
