Rivers APC dismisses corruption allegations against Amaechi

Rivers APC dismisses corruption allegations against Amaechi ….Rubbishes reports on foreign accounts
Lambasts Wike, APC saboteurs over baseless allegations

The Rivers State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed the corruption allegations against immediate past Governor of the State, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi, with a wave of the hand.

The party in a statement issued Sunday morning in Port Harcourt by its State Chairman, Dr. Davies Ibiamu Ikanya, said that the latest allegation by the wailing Care-taker Governor of Rivers State, Chief Nyesom Wike camp that Amaechi has foreign bank accounts lacks substance.

“These stories flooding the Internet and Social Media about former Governor Amaechi are mere fabrications intended to ridicule him and poison the mind of President Muhammadu Buhari, who is expected to make Amaechi a key member of his cabinet. For the avoidance of doubt, Amaechi has no account with a Bank in Minnesota, USA, as alleged by these devious rumour mongers. It is also not true that CNN’s Christiane Amanpour accused Amaechi of corruption, as being claimed by his detractors. Besides, at no time did Amaechi write to Bancorp or any bank in Switzerland, stating that he deposited any funds in error. These are wicked lies concocted by evil-minded persons desperate to pull down Amaechi but who are bound to fail,” Rivers APC said.

The party expressed regret that some saboteurs within the party have made themselves available for use by Chief Wike in tarnishing Amaechi’s hard-earned reputation just because of pecuniary benefits. “We wish to warn these saboteurs to stop playing Judas and return Wike’s money to him or be prepared to face the consequences with their new-found master whose wrongful occupation of the Rivers State Government House will soon be ended by the State Governorship Election Tribunal,” Rivers APC said.

It assured Amaechi of the party’s unflinching support, assuring him that he would be vindicated at the end of the day.

Oyegun lauded over Gbajabiamila issue

Oyegun lauded over Gbajabiamila issue

By Alhaji Ganiyu Alao

Prominent politicians in the South-West geo-political zone on Sunday gave the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Odigie Oyegun a pat on the back for a job well done.

They also praised him for cherishing the mood of the people and using the power of the office of the national chairman to promote the interests of the Yoruba people.

The leaders were happy with Yakubu Dogara’s acceptance of Femi Gbajabiamila as Majority Leader of the House of Representatives and the contributions made by the national chairman of the party.

They described Oyegun as a transparently impartial father of all.
In a statement by the chairman of Yoruba Front (YF), Alhaji Ganiyu Alao at the end of an emergency meeting in Surulere, the leaders expressed profound satisfaction with John Odigie-Oyegun’s leadership for the matured way in which the House of Representatives issue was resolved in favour of both Gbajabiamila and the Yoruba nation.

They commended President Muhammadu Buhari for demonstrating open-mindedness in the running of the party and the country.

We are happy with the recent development in the House of Representatives. It's more about making the party work and where everybody's voice matters “the leaders said.

They also said that the past should be regarded by all concerned as dead and buried.

The leaders while pledging to continue committing the national chairman to Allah to grant him wisdom, forbearance, understanding and objectivity in running the affairs of the party, implored President Muhammadu Buhari to continue to perform his duties with all moral and spiritual conviction.

They appealed to Nigerians to team up with President Buhari in the discharge of his onerous responsibilities.

Wike, PDP’s plot to pull down Amaechi an exercise in futility - Rivers APC

Wike, PDP’s plot to pull down Amaechi an exercise in futility - Rivers APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has accused Chief Nyesom Wike, the Caretaker Governor of the State, and the state chapter of his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of desperation to pull down immediate past Governor Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi but declared that what they are doing is an exercise in futility.

“Afraid of the rising political profile of Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, the Caretaker Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, and the battered PDP leadership in Rivers State are expending their energies on a doomed plot to drag Amaechi to their inglorious and irrelevant political level. Their sole aim is to rubbish and denigrate Amaechi and present him as unworthy of appointment into the cabinet of President Muhammadu Buhari. They have applied and adopted every unholy and sinister strategy in their devilish plots against a man who did much to build up their political profiles but they will not succeed,” Rivers APC said in the statement signed by the Chairman, Dr. Davies Ibiamu Ikanya.

According to the statement issued Sunday afternoon in Port Harcourt, “The latest insidious ploy is to engage other misguided PDP leaders like Prince Uche Secondus, the Acting National Chairman of PDP, to device and coordinate the devious plot to ridicule and portray Rt. Hon. Amaechi as a corrupt person and put him in bad light before the public so that he will not be appointed into the cabinet of President Buhari. In this regard, Emma Okah and Spokesman of Wike, Mr. Opunabo Inko-Tariah, have been recruited to reach out to certain persons within and outside Rivers State to initiate, fabricate, conjure, concote, formulate and contrive a damaging report bordering on alleged corrupt practices of Rt. Hon. Amaechi and circulate same to individuals and institutions within Nigeria and abroad with a view to denting the incorruptible character and rising profile of Rt. Hon. Amaechi in order to blackmail and put pressure on President Buhari not to appoint the former governor into his government.”

Rivers APC noted that the plot started manifesting almost immediately Chief Wike was wrongly sworn-in as Governor on May 29. “Wike hastily set up a probe panel with the sole agenda of declaring Amaechi a corrupt person, forgetting that he, Wike, is corruption personified judging by his corrupt practices during his days as Chairman of Obio-Akpor Local Government, his tenure as the Chief of Staff under Rt Hon Amaechi and during his hi-tech corruptive regime as Minister of Education,” the statement said.

Rivers APC expressed happiness that Nigerians and the international community cannot be deceived  as they know that Amaechi is one of the most forthright, transparent  and honest leaders in the country today; which explains why he had the courage and moral strength to confront ex-President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, Dame Patience Jonathan.

“We are happy to note that all these are efforts in futility as President Buhari cannot be deceived by Wike and his cohorts whose evil plots against Amaechi are informed by the fact that Amaechi saw to the victory of President Buhari during the March 28th Presidential polls. It will be sad if any sound Nigeria will buy the lies of these misguided fellows against a man who has won assorted awards for running one of the most corruption-free administrations in Nigeria,” Rivers APC said.

PDP is dead in Lagos State -Olorogun-Etti

PDP is dead in Lagos State -Olorogun-Etti

Njamanze Fidel

Chief Babatunde Olorogun – Etti on Monday called on Lagosians to join hands with President Muhammadu Buhari to develop the country.

He also urged Buhari to steer the ship of state away from economic hardship, political wrangling and insecurity.

Speaking in Lagos Island shortly after defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC), Olorogun-Etti praised the former governor of Lagos State, Senator Bola Tinubu for piloting the party along the path of greatness in Nigeria, particularly the South-West geo-political zone. He described him as a dynamic and brilliant politician.

“The development, growth and peaceful co-existence of the state should be paramount to us. APC is large enough to accommodate everybody. Senator Bola Tinubu has been fair to everybody no matter which divide of the state such a person comes from. Therefore, any citizen of Lagos State who loves this state, who believes he has a stake in the development of this state with a passion, has no reason to be in PDP” he said.
Olorogun Etti also hit at the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Lagos chapter, declaring the party dead in the state.

“It's time to face facts: PDP is finished in Lagos State. PDP can no longer compete in any serious way in Lagos. The local government election in the state will be a formality” he said.

He urged his teeming supporters in the state, particularly Lagos Island to go to their wards and register in the APC.
