Akwa Ibom APC women unite

…Udoedehe’s wife plans one million woman march for Ekere

The unification of the women structures of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State was completed on Wednesday when Mrs. Justina Udoedehe, the Wife of a former governorship aspirant in the party, Senator John Udoedehe, merged her women structure with the party’s campaign organization.

Mrs. Udoedehe did the merger at a ceremony in her residence in Uyo attended by hundreds of her supporters and APC women leaders led by Mrs. Ese Ekere, the Wife of the APC Gubernatorial Candidate, Obong Nsima Ekere.

She described Obong Ekere’s nomination as divine and promised that they will work hard to ensure his victory in the 2019 election.

“We are ready to work for Nsima Ekere. We will vote Nsima Ekere because God has chosen him and we can’t go against what God wants. APC must come to power. We are supporting him wholeheartedly,”‘ Mrs. Udoedehe said.

She announced that they were planning a one million woman march in support of Obong Ekere.
Dr. Nseobong Ekpo, the Uyo Senatorial District APC Woman Leader, who belonged to the Udoedehe women group, said they were instructed to support Obong Ekere by the former Senator and called for their full integration in the APC Campaign Organization.

Responding, Mrs. Ekere thanked the women for the merger and solicited the same level of cooperation they gave Mrs. Udoedehe over the years.

She promised to work closely with Mrs. Udoedehe and the coordinators of her group for their smoothless integration into the APC Campaign Organization.

Mrs. Ekere commended Mrs. Unoma Akpabio, the Wife of the immediate past Governor of the state, for the great work she did for Akwa Ibom women in her time as Governor’s Wife and promised to do better for the women in her own time.

She stunned the crowd when she gave out her telephone number openly, asking the women to reach her at will.

Mrs. Akpabio, who also spoke, said the merger had made the APC’s task of winning the elections easier.

She attributed Obong Ekere’s imminent election to God, saying, “The angel of God whispered to me that come May 2019, the person that will be sworn in as Governor is Obong Nsima Ekere. I have heard the voice. I have seen the signs. We have seen where the government is going to and that government is going to Obong Nsima Ekere.”

Obonganwan Geraldine Ita Etuk, the Director of Women in the APC Campaign Organization, who received the Udoedehe women group, charged them to join hands with other APC members to ensure the party’s victory in the 2019 elections.

Lady Valerie Ebe, the immediate past Deputy Governor of the state, led the women on a symbolic march to Government House around the venue of the ceremony, singing, “Our palace was taken away, Government House was taken away by PDP, now Government House is returning to everybody.”

Obong Rita Akpan, a former Minister for Women Affairs, promised members of the Udoedehe women group full integration into the APC mainstream.
