Darlington Orji's Realignment: Not a Betrayal of Sim Fubara; Obiaruko Ndukwe's Video on "Loyalty" Helps Solve the Riddle

By Amadi Nkemka

Politics is not a secret cult where members are bound by lifelong allegiance. Every politician has the right to align with where they believe their interests, aspirations, and political future will be better protected. Dr. Darlington Orji's decision to identify with Nyesom Ezenwo Wike simply suggests that he no longer believes his political interests are secure under  Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara. He should not be condemned or politically crucified for exercising that choice.

Those interested in understanding this perspective should watch Obiaruko Ndukwe YouTube commentary of 24 August 2025, titled "Betrayal: A World That Exists in Every Gathering! What Really Is Betrayal?" In her analysis, she raises thought-provoking questions about the true meaning of betrayal. She argues that when a leader repeatedly loses opportunities, ignores wise counsel, and fails to adapt, followers naturally begin to prioritize survival, relevance, and political sustainability. In such circumstances, moving on should not automatically be interpreted as disloyalty but as a practical response to persistent failure and stagnation.

She further contends that when a leader continually fails those who entrusted their political future to him, it is the followers who have first been betrayed. Political alliances are built not merely on emotional loyalty but on the shared objective of winning, gaining influence, and advancing collective interests.

Viewed from that perspective, Dr. Darlington Orji's decision cannot simply be dismissed as betrayal. Rather, it may be seen as a political calculation by someone who believes a different platform offers a better opportunity to achieve his goals.

In a democracy, political realignment is neither a crime nor an act of treason. People should be free to pursue their political convictions and interests without being vilified simply because they chose a different path.
