Presidential amnesty beneficiaries produce and distribute 1500 bags of rice

Presidential amnesty beneficiaries produce and distribute 1500 bags of rice

The success stories of the Presidential Amnesty Programme beneficiaries just keep coming; this is as it has produced 1500 bags of Rice by 100 amnesty beneficiaries according to a press statement to journalists by Mr. Wabiye Idoniboyeobu, media consultant to Brig-Gen Paul Boroh.

“The beneficiaries during their training and mentorship phases, nurtured, milled and packed 1500”, said Wabiye.

According to him, “The next phase of their reintegration would be their full empowerment. This would entail allocation of land, and necessary rice farming Implements, to the trained Ex Agitators. Over 50 actual Ex Militants are part of this group.”

He made known that “agencies like the Bank of Agriculture, Ministry of Agriculture and the Anchor Borrowers Programme have already keyed into this success story by partnering to support these new farmers moving forward.”

“It is expected that when large scale production starts, the rice produced would be sold in the market cheaper than the normal rice currently to ease the plight of the common man. By this, the success of the Amnesty Programme not only improves the lives of the beneficiaries, but also eases the lives of the public”, Wabiye asserted.

South-South leaders back Oyegun, condemn youth protest in Abuja

Prominent leaders in the South-South geo-political zone on Tuesday urged the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Odigie-Oyegun to remain steadfast in his fight for the enthronement of ideal democratic culture in Nigeria.

They also lauded Oyegun for playing a pivotal role in the fight against corruption.

Reacting to the orchestrated attack on the person and leadership of Chief Odigie-Oyegun by some misguided youths and their backers, the leaders described the calls for Oyegun’s resignation as puerile.

“These individuals do not mean well for the ruling party. Chief John Odigie-Oyegun is on the right track. He deserves the encouragement of all” the leaders said.

In a statement akin to a reckless juvenile bravado, Peter Oyewole demanded the immediate sack of Oyegun. He also accused the national chairman of not supporting the anti-corruption crusade of the President Muhammadu Buhari led-APC government.

“This is a laughable accusation and shows the ignorance of those behind the protest” the leaders said.

In a statement in Abuja, the leaders repudiated the Youth protest at the National Secretariat of the ruling party in Abuja.

“These protesters and their sponsors are driven by hatred and selfish ends.”

Signed by the Chairman, South-South Front (SSF), Chief John Harry, the leaders applauded Oyegun for the dignity, diligence and dedication demonstrated in his duties as national chairman.

“We are in Abuja to show solidarity with Chief John Odigie-Oyegun. The actions of people calling themselves Save APC Democracy Youth Vanguard deserve unequivocal condemnation” the leaders said.

They advised the youths and their sponsors to look for better ways of seeking relevance.

“Peter Oyewole and other misguided youths should find more constructive things to do “

They also urged the national chairman to remain firm and not be distracted in the onerous task of building the ruling party.

“We cannot afford any further distraction as the tasks ahead of this government are enormous. Let Oyegun continue with his good works. Let the good people of Nigeria, not be misled.”

“APC is the most democratic party in Nigeria. Oyegun is securing level playing field for APC members” the leaders added.

UN Award to Gov. Wike Is a Scam – Rivers APC

UN Award to Gov. Wike Is a Scam – Rivers APC
…UN-Habitat Disowns Award

Following obvious curiosity that is trailing a reported United Nations (UN)-backed award under the platform of Sustainable Cities and Human Settlements Awards (SCAHSA) and inquiries by the Rivers State chapter of All Progressives Congress, APC, on the status of the purported award, the UN-Habitat Headquarters, New York, which liaises with development partners on United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) programmes of the UN has disowned the SCAHSA award reportedly to be conferred on Gov. Nyesom Wike Tuesday, 31st October in New York.

Following APC’s e-mail inquiry dated Monday 30th October (yesterday) concerning the Global Human Settlements Outstanding Contribution Award organised by SCAHSA, the UN-Habitat New York Office, in a statement dated same day and signed by the Secretary and IT Focal Point, Mr. Angel Gomez, dissociated the UN from such an award. The response is reproduced here under:

“Dear Mr. Finebone,

We thank you for contacting UN-Habitat New York Office.

Please be advised that UN-Habitat is not related at all with such award.

Yours sincerely,

Angel Gómez (Mr.)
Secretary, and
IT Focal Point
UN-Habitat
New York Office

Fax:         (212) 963-8721
http://www.unhabitat.org

“For the avoidance of doubt, it must be explained that the deliberate attempt to confer UN recognition on the purported award is a huge scam to deceive Rivers people and Nigerians. Further investigations by us revealed that SCAHSA as a private Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) that invites entries for awards which are based on suspect criteria including offering awards to the highest bidder who is able to part with huge amount in US Dollars in exchange for such awards” said Mr. Chris Finebone in a press statement today.

The statement read: “In the instance case concerning the purported award to Gov. Nyesom Wike, we discovered that some smart Rivers indigenes resident in the US contrived and fixed the award after obtaining huge sums in foreign currency from the award-seeking governor.

“SCAHSA has been discovered to be one of the numerous NGOs that claim affiliation with various UN-Habitat under Habitat Agenda Partners (HAP). However, some of these NGOs have now become vehicles  for defrauding politicians from the third world especially Nigerian politicians by offering dubious awards in exchange for money.

“The APC is dismayed beyond imagination that Gov. Nyesom Wike is resorting to high level scam to dupe the peoples’ resources and rubbish their collective intelligence. We are still questioning the criteria by way of projects and programmes that should qualify the Wike government for an award of the sort dubiously being advertised and celebrated. We are yet to see any.

“We are persuaded by the position of many that the recent announcement by the governor to release US$1m to rescue the students of Rivers State stranded in various overseas universities is a mere red herring to prevent protests during his engagement at Chatham House, London on November 6. Many believe that soon after the Chatham House event the governor will renege on his promise.

“We call on all those who have been hoodwinked into celebrating a UN award for Gov. Nyesom Wike to save themselves the embarrassment of celebrating a scam and making themselves a laughing stock before the global community. All that the APC is asking for is that Gov. Nyesom Wike should get down to providing governance instead of regaling in the atmospherics of power, grandstanding and deceiving Rivers people.”

South-South Front (SSF) hail Oyegun at 78

South-South Front (SSF) hail Oyegun at 78

Prominent South-South leaders on Friday eulogized the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Odigie-Oyegun for his total dedication to the service of the nation.

“Nigerians have reasons to be grateful to Oyegun for his contribution to the development of democracy.” the leaders, under the aegis of the South-South Front (SSF), said.

In a statement signed by SSF Chairman, Chief John Harry, the leaders commended Oyegun for devoting almost his entire adult life to the service of the Nigerian State, engaging party faithful in exciting ways and thinking outside the box.

They described the APC national chairman as a selfless leader, ardent nationalist, a profound humanist, an astute politician and a paragon of virtues.

“Chief Odigie-Oyegun, a clean and competent administrator, erudite politician and a true democrat, is dedicated and fearless. He is also a fighter for good governance and transparency” the leaders said.

Recalling his days as executive governor of Edo State on the platform of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), the leaders noted the improvement in the various sectors, provision of potable water, potent health care delivery and good roads as well as secured living in the state.

They praised Oyegun for his free education at all levels and health services for children and maternal cases, the completion of Oba Market, the Cultural Centre and State Water Board Headquarters.

They also commended him for the huge employment, provision of a modern and subsidized urban mass transit system, relocation of NABTEB to Edo State and successful lobbying of the Federal Government to take over the polytechnic in Auchi.

“Oyegun’s politics hinges on the pillar of development, concern for the nation and its people. The former governor of Edo State met the yearnings and aspirations of the people during his short stint in power.”

The leaders described as irresponsible the campaign of calumny by Anambra State governor, Dr. Willie Obiano.

They condemned him for throwing the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) into confusion.

“Dr. Willie Obiano is arrogant, reckless, evil and intoxicated with destruction. He is not on the best of terms with Peter Obi and others who took him from his banking job to Government House.”

The leaders also rebuffed the arrogance and disrespect of Timi Frank, saying but for Oyegun’s extraordinary commitment to reconciliation and tolerance, crises would have taken over the ruling party.

They advised the national chairman to disregard the governor’s antics and concentrate on the job of delivering Anambra State to APC.

The leaders while wishing Oyegun good health and happiness thanked him for providing purposeful leadership in Nigeria, particularly Edo State.

“It is a great honour for us to offer our sincere greetings and best wishes on the occasion of your 78th birthday” the leaders added.

South-South Youths to Wike: PDP is a discredited platform

South-South Youths to Wike: PDP is a discredited platform

…..Warn Timi Frank, others

South –South Youths on Thursday praised the All Progressives Congress (APC) for bringing about the needed change in Nigeria.

The youths heaped praises on the leaders of the party for getting Nigeria out of the predicament of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In a statement by the South-South Youth Leaders Forum, the youths condemned the reported stand of Governor Nyesom Wike concerning the performance of the APC in the country.

“Governor Nyesom Wike in his heart of hearts knows the truth and should be man enough to accept the fact that PDP disappointed Nigerians.”

The leader of the group, Dr. Uche Amadi among other youths praised the APC for liberating the political space from the suffocating control of the PDP and injecting the needed political and economic re-engineering into governance in the country.

They also commended President Muhammadu Buhari and Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo for tackling the country’s numerous challenges and building a virile nation for generation yet unborn.

“APC is not like PDP. PDP is a discredited platform, a cult house of discord and enmity. APC has a vision and mission.  The party will win the 2019 presidential election.”

The youths applauded the APC dominated National Assembly for looking into some areas in the 1999 Constitution and addressing the problems confronting Nigeria.

Particularly, the youths eulogized the National Chairman of the party, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun for bringing his wealth of experience to bear on the party’s administration.

“In party politics, members of the party want to be given the chance to make their contributions. Chief John Odigie-Oyegun is a man of wisdom, dedication and integrity. He is handling the affairs of the party in a pleasant manner.”

The youths who noted with dismay the unhealthy comments by Timi Frank described Oyegun as symbol of peace, a good manager of men and resources as well as a strong believer in the National Cause.

They called on APC members all over the country to continue to have confidence in the ability and capacity of the chairman to move the party to the next level.

“Timi Frank has lost relevance. The only value that he has, is that of being a nuisance to the good people of Bayelsa State.”

“Oyegun, a versatile and time tested technocrat, administrator and a stickler for transparency, is carrying everyone along” the youths added.

Timi, others plotting to derail APC, Northern leaders allege

Timi, others plotting to derail APC, Northern leaders allege

Commends Oyegun’s efforts

Prominent leaders in the North on Sunday eulogized the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Odigie-Oyegun for his role in the reform agenda of the party, especially the issue of open and fair competition, execution of the party’s policies and the transformation of Nigeria from a beggarly status to one of self-sufficiency and respectability.

The leaders frowned at the behavior of the suspended Deputy National Publicity Secretary of APC, Mr. Timi Frank and his sponsors in tarnishing the good image of Oyegun.

The northern leaders are angry with Frank who they accused of not only pushing the party into a difficult position but plotting to rock the boat.

At an enlarged meeting in Yola, Adamawa State, the leaders said Frank’s call for Oyegun’s resignation was pointless.

“Timi Frank did not do justice to the avalanche of facts available on the achievements of Oyegun since he assumed office as national chairman of APC.”

The leaders who are pushing for sanctions against Timi Frank and his co-conspirators painted a bright picture of Nigeria and APC, arguing that APC is cleaning the mess made by PDP and providing an atmosphere for sustainable development in the economic and social fields.

“APC is not in government for the fun of it. APC is in government to save the Nigerian people who have become deprived of good things of life for long. APC is in government to stop recklessness, wasteful spree and the insensitivities of PDP. The APC government is accountable, prudent and people oriented.”

The northern leaders who met under the auspices of the APC United Front, described Oyegun as a pragmatic politician.

Leader of APC United Front, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa, in a statement said the northern leaders branded Timi Frank and his sponsors as traitors and tongue-lashed them for anti-party activities.

“To Frank, what counts most is the selfish interest of his sponsors. However, the consequence of swimming against the tidal waves is and will always be a disastrous one.”

They advised the national leadership of the party to wield a big hammer by taking stronger measures against Frank and his sponsors.

“One of the good qualities of a statesman is the ability to subordinate self interest to wider national interest. Frank and his sponsors are today engaged in a political war against APC. It is an extremely unjust war, waged for no other purpose than to destroy APC.”

“APC is the party of the people, the hope of the people” the leaders added.
